On Earth, Scandinavian is among the happiest places. The social support given by neighbors and the Governments of countries such as Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden makes the countries to be ranked among the top happiest in the world. This is why the Scandinavian life philosophies are linked to these happy nations.

The Scandinavian traditions that these countries practice can, therefore, give us insight or additional info on how to be happier in life and also treat our neighbors better.

The 5 Scandinavian Life Philosophies to make you happy.

1. Hygge.

The concept of hygge is Danish. It refers to something related to the comfort of the soul. This life philosophy tries to teach us to view things positively.

Never allow guilt or second thoughts ruin what is important to you. If you dwell so much on the negative things happening around you, chances are you will never be happy; assume the environment and live happily with others.

2.Lagom.

Lagom is a word with Swedish origin that is like;y to translate to ‘optimal’ or ‘moderate’.Lagom is a Scandinavian life philosophy that teaches us about knowing the limits of everything.

It proves to us the necessity of doing everything with moderation. In life, you should have a healthy balance in everything you do. Never go too much on either side of something.

3. Sisu.

Sisu is a concept with its roots in Finland. It can be translated into English to mean perseverance, the strength of will or determination. This Finnish concept is perhaps the most unique of the five. It does not talk about enjoying life but persevering your way through challenges. It does not focus on the ‘now’ in your challenges, but your ‘then’ after the challenges.

4. Fika.

Fika is generally an alternative name for a coffee break. The syllables of the word ‘Kaffe’ which is Swedish were reversed to coin the word Fika.

This philosophy shows the importance of taking breaks. After committing yourself to something and preserving to the stress, a break is healthy to help you meditate and get renewed energy. You should take the break as a time to be next to the people around you.

5. Lykke.

The word ‘Lykke’ is of Danish meaning happiness. Having come from the world’s happiest country, philosophy carries some weight on happiness.

It majorly covers things that bring happiness, e.g., kindness, freedom, trust, money, togetherness, and health. If all these are assured or given, happiness is there. It also focuses on doing what is right today even though it hearts for future benefits.

The 5 Scandinavian life philosophies have much to teach us on how to enjoy life as it is and be happy with our neighbors.
